Rev. Donald E. Garrett Jr. is a native of Alpine, Alabama to the union of Donald Sr. & Erlene.  He received his High School education at Robert A. He obtained his High School certificate of diplomacy in the year 2004.
Pastor Garrett accepted the calling of preaching the gospel at 14 years of age. He delivered his first message on July 9, 2000 and received his license to preach under the pastoralship of Rev. Mark A. Toney. Pastor Garrett served under the leadership of Pastor Toney and the New Unity Baptist Church family until he was called to be the Youth Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church under the direction of Rev. Dr. James R. Chisley.   After a short season there, he was called to Union Baptist Church to serve as the Minister of Youth under the toolidge of Rev. Dr. Orlando B. Yates.  In February 2010, Pastor Garrett was ordained as a minister of the gospel with his Union Baptist Church family and a host of family and friends as proclaiming witnesses. His current goal is to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education and Leadership.  August 28, 2011 on the 4th Sunday of the month, Rev. Garrett was called to Pastor The historical First Baptist Church of Hazelwood and installed as Pastor September 25, 2011.  Since called, Pastor Garrett has successfully restarted Sunday School and Bible Study. Also under Pastor Garrett the church started the Hazelwood Walk Ministry and currently under construction is the Food Pantry Ministry.

On September 1, 2012 Reverend Garrett was united in Holy Matrimony to Lady Erica R. Garrett.  Pastor and Lady Garrett has dedicated themselves to the work and ministry of the church.  Lady Garrett has been instrumental in developing ministry events and bring many ideas to the church and Hazelwood is excited to see the move of God using this power couple ordained to serve in this present age.

Pastor Garret says, “As long as I live I will serve the Lord no matter where I am led to do so.  I am called to lead and called to serve in this present age, and God has been with me every step of the way.  I am God’s masterpiece and He’s not finished with me yet.”  His favorite scripture is Psalms 34:1 “I will bless the lord at all times, and his praises shall continually be in my mouth. The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in His way.
